# Spring commissioning

De-winterizing, batteries, a wash and wax, bottom paint if needed, then the launch. Booking commissioning with storage gets you a place in the spring queue before the rush.

## What commissioning usually covers

- Engine: Antifreeze flushed, impeller checked, belts and hoses inspected, test run.
- Water and heads: Antifreeze flushed from fresh water and head systems, pumps checked.
- Electrical: Batteries charged and installed, lights, pumps and electronics tested.
- Hull: Wash, wax or polish, bottom paint if the boat stays in the water all season.

## Commissioning prices

- Spring commissioning: from $350
- Bottom paint: from $30/ft
- [Haul-out or launch](https://boatparking.ca/services/haul-out-and-launch/): from $8/ft each way

Starting prices in CAD before tax, from published marina and port rates and market estimates, October 2026. Your boat, the yard and the dates set the final price.

## Commissioning questions

**When should I book spring work?**

In winter. Yards plan their launch order in February and March, and technicians are booked solid by April.

**Can I do my own spring work?**

Many yards allow it. Tick "DIY" in the request and we look for yards that do.
